Fuel Comparison Calculator Use this calculator to compare fuel prices in your area. The results will be the same as the chart above. Click on the link, when the dialog box pops up click OK. The calculator will open in your computer's task bar.
Using The Calculator Step 1. You can change the fuel prices in the yellow cells by clicking on the box with the cross shaped cursor and typing in your local fuel price. Don't bother filling in dollar signs; they will be automatically inserted. Next, just click on the corresponding green cell to see how the price change affects the price per million Btus compared to other fuels.
Step 2. If you don't know the efficiency rating of your furnace, etc., you can use the default ratings provided in the yellow cells and leave them unchanged. The efficiencies can be changed the same way you changed the fuel prices.
